Arrival /Negombo
Arrival at the airport and
transfer to Hotel.
Day 2
Negombo/Munneshwaram/Negombo
Morining visit Manawari
Kovil and MunneshwaramTemple at Chilaw. Manawari is the first lingam installed
and prayed by Lord Rama and this lingam is called Ramalingam Shivam. This
was one of the Five Lingam Temples erected by Lord Rama on advice given by Lord
Shiva to evade “Bramahathi Dosham” for killing King Ravana who was a Brahmin.
Return to Hotel for overnight stay.
Day 3
Negombo/Wariyapola/Dolukanda/Kandy
Leave the hotel for
Dolukanda via Wariyapola which was one of the five airports used by King Ravana
to land and takeoff his Vimana’s. Dolukanda is part of the Sanjeewani Hills
lifted in whole and brought by Lord Hanuman from Himalayas which
contained the life saving herbs to bring back to life Lord Rama and Lakshamana
who were hit by powerful arrows. Transfer to Kandy.
Day 4
Kandy/Nuwara
Eliya
Laeving for Nuwara Eliya
enroute visit Sri Bhaktha Hanuman Temple on the hills of Ramboda located in the
area where Lord Hanuman was searching for Sitadevi and found her and the
Labukale Mani Kattuther Temple situated where Lord Hanuman on his way to
announce this happy information to Lord Rama rested.
At Nuwara Eliya
to Visit the Gayathri Peedam Temple at Nuwara Eliya believed to be the place
where King Ravan’s son Meghanth propitiated Lord Shiva with penance and poojas
and in turn was granted super natural powers by Lord Shiva and thereafter
proceed to Sita Eliya and visit the Sita Amman Temple - A Temple for Lord Rama,
Sita Devi, Lakshamana and Hanuman built on the sides of the stream where Seetha
Devi bathed. Also visit the Hakgala Gardens and see the Sita Flowers which are
bright red in colour and is the configuration of the petal’s stmen and
pistil’s, which resemble a human figure carrying a bow, and is said to
represent Lord Rama
Day 5
Nuwara
Eliya/Hambantota
Leaving for Hambantota and enroute
stop at Divurampola which is located
20 kms
towards Welimade and it means a place of oath. Sitadevi after her liberation
from King Ravana under went a test to prove her chastity by offering herself to
fire – and also visit the Istripuramgala at Welimade which means an area of
women in Sinhalese. This is one of the places which King Ravana shifted
Sitadevi as a precautionary measure – drive pass the Ravana Ella water falls
via Ella Wellayawa and visit the Kataragama Temple of Lord Karthikeyan
Subramaniam at Kataragama – continue to Hambantota .
Day 6
Hambantota/Colombo
Leave for Colombo enroute
visiting Kirinda the site where the boat of Vihara Maha Devi was washed away
and also view the Maha Ravana goda which means great Ravana fort is one of the
25 palaces built by King Ravana. The palace was submerged and a lighthouse was
built on this place and also the Kuda Ravanagoad base and these places are
accessible by boat from Kirinda – thereafter visit the Seenigama Temple and
Rumassala places where Sugreeva King of the Vanara’s stated his onslaught on
King Ravana’s forces.– continue to Colombo.
Day 7
Colombo
In the morning leave
on a city tour of Colombo including a visit to the Panchamuga Anjaneyer Temple in
Dehiwela the only temple in the world to
have a chariot for
Anjaneyar and also a visit to the Kelaniya Temple the place where
King Veebeshana ruled after being crowned by Lakshmana.

Day 01 : Airport/Colombo
Arrival and transfer to hotel.
Day 02 :
Colombo/Muthurajawella/Pinnawela/Sigiriya
After breakfast
visit Muturajawela which is Sri Lanka’s largest single expanse of marsh on a
guided boat tour. It covers an area of 8000 acres, from the mouth of the Kelani
River, where it meets the sea, to the outskirts of the Negombo lagoon. The
marsh thicker and wilder towards the Negombo end, is home to all kinds of
birds, small mammals, snakes, butterflies and dragon flies and even crocodiles.
40% of Sri Lanka’s vertebrate species are recorded here, many of which are
endemic. It is recorded that there are some 126 resident bird species and 40
migratory species.
And leave for
Sigiriya.
En-route visit
the Elephant orphanage at Pinnawela. This is the home for about 60 elephants,
out of which many are baby elephants found abandoned or orphaned in the wild.
They are being cared, fed and trained by the wild life authorities. The best
time to visit is during the feeding times, when one will have the opportunity
of seeing the baby elephants being bottle-fed. Also could accompany the
elephants to a river close-by and see the elephants having their daily bath.
Overnight stay in Sigiriya.
Day 03 : Sigiriya/
Polonnaruwa/Minneriya/Sigiriya
Breakfast at hotel and then proceed
to Polonnaruwa Sri Lanka’s medieval capital (11th -12th)
century A.D] is a well- preserved metropolis of buildings and shrines. The
majestic King’s council chamber, the rock cut Lotus Bath, the statue of one of
Polonnaruwa’s greatest kings, Parakramabahu and the rock cut sculptures of the
Gal Vihare (temple) which comprises of four mid-12th century statues of Buddha,
cut from a single granite wall, and is ranked as one of the best masterpieces
of Sri Lankan Art. “ Sea of Parakrama”, a vast 12th century man made reservoir
also dominates the city.
Evening visit
MINNERIYA NATIONAL PARK which consists of mixed evergreen forest and scrub
areas and is home to Sri Lanka’s favorites such as sambar deer, leopards and
elephants. However the central feature of the park is the ancient Minneriya
Tank (built in 3rdcentury A.D. by King Mahasena). During the dry season (June
to September), this tank is an incredible place to observe the elephants who
come to bathe and graze on the grasses as well as the huge flocks of birds
(cormorants and painted storks to name but a few) that come to fish in the
shallow waters.
Day 04 : Sigiriya/Habarana/Sigiriya
Breakfast at
hotel and then visit Sigiriya Rock. Sigiriya is a fascinating fortress which
was a stronghold of a fifth century king who murdered his father. The red stone
rises 600 feet from the green scrub jungle it is famous for its frescoes
painted within a sheltered rock. Only 19 out of the 500 painted in the 5th
century remain. The Lion stairway, the mirror wall and the water gardens are
amongst Sigiriya’s other highlights.
Afternoon leave
on an Elephant Safari at Habarana. The main attractions in Habarana are the
Tank, forest and the peaceful environment which is appreciated by any
individual who enjoys wild life, birds and nature.
Day 05 : Sigiriys/Dambulla/ Matale/Kandy
Breakfast at
hotel and then leave for Kandy.
En route visit
Dambulla. Famous for it’s 1st century B.C. Cave Temple complex, this is an
archaeological treasure. The rock temple is a series of caves (05), which has a
painted area of more than 20,000 sq.ft of stunning Buddhist murals. A huge 47
ft. rock cut of a sleeping Buddha dominates the main cave.
Continue to
Kandy and visit a Spice Garden at Matale. Kandy is the last capital of a
classical, independent Sinhalese Kingdom and still the home of traditional
arts, music and culture.
Afternoon leave
on a sightseeing tour of Kandy including a visit to the Upper Lake Drive, Arts
and Crafts Centre and a Gem Lapidary. Also witness a Kandyan Dancing
performance. Late evening visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha
during “Pooja” Ceremony time.
Overnight in
Kandy.
Day 06 : Kandy/Nuwara Eliya
After breakfast
visit Udawattekale Nature reserve.
This is a small
hill top forest situated over the heart of ancient capital of Kandy. It is by nature
a rain forest but mostly planted up by the forest department. It is an oasis
for greater number of Sri Lankan resident bird species and migrants in winter.
It contains a few endemics like Sri Lanka Hanging Parrot, Yellow-fronted and
Small Ceylon Barbets. The rare and most beautiful Threetoed Kingfisher has been
seen here.
Afternoon leave
for Nuwara Eliya. Visit the Beautiful Royal Botanical Gardens at Peradeniya
located on the banks of the Sri Lanka’s longest river Mahaweli and also visit a
Tea factory and a plantation to watch the Tea pluckers pick two leaves and a
bud with deft hand and to see the care with which the leaves are dried and
processed for ‘Sri Lanka’s single origin Tea’. You may also see Ramboda Falls
en-route.
Overnight stay
at Nuwara Eliya.
Day 06 : Nuwara Eliya/Horton Plains/ Nuwara
Eliya/Ratnapura
After an early
breakfast leave for Horton Plains most certainly one of the worlds best nature
reserves which consists of famous Worlds End and Bakers Falls. Most of the day
World’s End is covered with mist and clouds and it has a sheer drop of 3700
feet.10,000 Hectares in extent Horton Plains is haunted by Elk, Deer, Giant
Squirrel, Wild Boar, Wild Hare Porcupine and a variety of migratory birds which
is unique to this region. If one is lucky he may get a glimpse of a Leopard.
There were once Elephants here but the last was shot by a British Planter in
1930s.
Return to
Nuwara Eliya and then leave for Ratnapura via Haputale and Pelmadulla.
Day 07 : Ratnapura/Sinharaja Rain Forest
/Udawalawe/Hambantota
Breakfast at
hotel and then leave for Sinharaja Rain Forest which is Sri Lanka’s last
remaining primeval rainforest, a World Heritage Site and one of the most
important sites in Sri Lanka for its biodiversity. A single footpath cuts
through the heart of its 50 square miles. Vegetation is in many layers as in
Congo or Amazon. The suffocating silence is broken by the sound of rain: 200
inches fall annually. Real paradises for bird & butterfly enthusiasts and
flora & fauna experts as there are many indigenous species found here.
Afternoon
continue to Udawalawe and go on a safari of the national park. It is situated
around a reservoir of the same name in the south central area. Some of the animals
that could be seen in herds are elephants, deer, wild buffaloes, wild boar,
monkeys and variety of other species like peacock, crocodile, and if you are
lucky bear, leopard & giant python. The park has many pleasant surprises
for a patient visitor - an experience both memorable and exciting.
Proceed for
overnight stay at Hambantota.
Day 08 : Hambantota/Yala/Hambantota
Breakfast at
hotel.
Afternoon visit
Yala National Park. Yala is the most popular park with a vast array of animals
including deer, peacock, elephant, wild buffalo, Crocodiles and the lucky
visitors may get to see a leopard or sloth bear. It is mainly thorny scrub
forest, reminiscent of the African bush. A sight worth watching here going a
long way to witness is the splendid mating dance of the beautiful Peacock.
Return to
Hambantota for overnight stay.
Day 09 : Hambantota/Bundala/Galle/Colombo
After early
breakfast visit Bundala National Park a wild life sanctuary where birds are in
abundance. Flamingos are often seen here during the northeast monsoon.
Elephants sometimes retreat to the Bundala salt pans during the drought.
Leave for
Colombo along the picturesque South West coast. En route visit the Old Dutch
Fortat Galle which is still the administration Center for the district. Also
visit a Turtle Hatchery at Kosgoda.
Check in at
Hotel in Colombo for overnight stay.
Day 10 : Colombo/Airport
Transfer to
airport.

DAY 01 COLOMBO/PINNAWELA/KANDY
Meet on arrival and transfer
to Kandy .
En-route the Elephant Orphanage in Pinnawela, which is a home to about 60
Elephants found abandoned or orphaned in the wild. Also, accompany the
Elephants to a river close by to see them having their daily baths. In the
evening visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic and
thereafter witness a cultural show in Kandy .
Day 02 Kandy/Sigiriya/Giritale
After breakfast proceed to
Sigiriya and climb the Rock Fortress built by King Kasyapa (473-491) the
patricide God King. Having climbed the rock you will encounter the remains of
the Palace and its environs. See the famous frescoes. Thereafter proceed to
Giritale for lunch. After lunch, drive on to Polonnaruwa, the second capital of
Sri lanka
in the 11th and 12th centuries. Visit the ruins of the Royal Palace ,
the Lankatilleke Vihare (3rd century AD) theThuparama Dagoba and the Gal
Vihare, 3 splendid statues of the Buddha in upright, sedant and recumbent
postures, all carved out of a large rock. Other interesting sights are the
Lotus Bath, Tivanke Image House with the best known Buddhist frescoes of Sri Lanka ,
and man-made ‘Parakarama Samudra’ built by Parakarama Bahu the great.
Day 03 Giritale/Anuradhapura
After breakfast leave for
Anuradhapura the first capital of Sri Lanka you will see the remains of the
Brazen Palace (which was once 9 storeys high), the Sri Maha Bodhi a Bo Tree
over 2000 years old, grown from the branch of the very tree beneath which the
Buddha attained enlightenment and the Ruwanweliseya Dagaba. See the 2nd Century
BC shrine containing the Buddha’s collar bone relic, the Abhayagiriya temple
and the Jetawanaramaya dagobas. Next visit the Kuttam Pokuna or twin ponds and
the samadhi Buddha (a statue of the Buddha in a meditative pose), which is
being acknowledged worldwide as a materpiece.

Day 04 Anuradhapura/Colombo
After breakfast leave for Negombo
and tour this 17th Century Portuguese and Dutch established city before
returning to Colombo – Transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
